A great stay here for 3 nights, the service up front was super welcoming and very helpful for giving me locals advice, thanks Rob. Rooms were what youd expect for the price, were clean and comfy though (I had a mixed dorm). Wasnt too loud although rooms are near alleyways where the loud people tend to wander on saturday nights so beware. I didn't think it was an issue. AC in our room was soooo good for summer. Finding kitchen shelf space and fridge space was hard but it was long weekend so I assume thats why. Great location eith plenty to do, hired the bikes for $10 half day, super cheap, they are cheap bikes though but fully worth it when you ride the waterfront. Would come again.

Haven’t stayed there but the staff was nice enough to inform us of the noise upon online booking as it is located above a restaurant and a bar. It’s obviously going to be loud on New Year’s Eve. They cancelled it for at no cost. That’s really appreciated. Thank you 😊

Nice hostel, staff was incredibly nice and helpful. They were very helpful when my car got stolen in town.

My wife and i thoroughly enjoyed our stay at back packer's in new plymouth. Fantastic situation and very helpful staff. Will stay again . Many thanks.

The location is perfect--right across from the beach and near many places to eat and drink. I usually stay here when I have to catch a plane the next morning. The rooms are very clean. The bathrooms are shared but they're always clean.

This is an excellent backpacker - even in a country where many hostels are really high standard, this one is a stand out. The owners couldn't be more hospitable and the roof terrace with stunning sea views is icing on the cake. I think improvements are in progress - so it will get even better.

The location was perfect. The staff was very friendly. The community rooms were amazing and full of nice people. It has carpets all over the place so if you go to the bathroom with socks at night you will feel like home. Plus there is a giant blackboard in the hall where you can draw stuff so yeah go there...

Wow! This place is the perfect location here in town. Right near the Puki Ariki and Coastal Walkway. Within walking distance of everything and free parking in the city from 5pm and on Sundays. I'm on a road trip around New Zealand and this was a great place to start my trip off in
